Elastic Bands
The simplest form of clamping
but only suitable were fitting them is straight forward. It is
too easy to knock parts out of place when wrapping the band around
them.
In the photograph, an angle jig has been fitted to the
seat of a chair. This enabled the correct angle between the seat
and back to be obtained.
Clamps
Plastic clamp that uses and elastic band to produce the clamping pressure. Requires a range of band sizes that can be wrapped around several times to produce the pressure required. They do become stiff to operate under higher pressures.
These clamps incorporate trigger action to produce the required pressure. They can readily be positioned to enable the parts to be held in one hand while positioning them between the jaws. Pressure is set by several actions on the trigger until a maximum is reached when further action has no effect.
